Deck team for deployment

We are doing everything we can to stay operational.

0120: To WID Staff, Transducers
Hey all, it looks like we are about to lose another transducer 75/410. That will leave us with only two functional 75/410s and the 230/540 on Mary Ann that is indicating a problem. Andy Sherrell and I just spoke about this, and while we can speak to Hydroid about it, we need to also be talking to EdgeTech and perhaps Jetasonics, too. We need a better idea of what they think is happening, and whether there is something we can do to test out here.

As well, we need to give serious thought about what it would take to integrate a new product in these units. Is that possible? Which transducer, and from whom? Can we get them integrated into the system, even if we have to spend a week in Samoa doing it? We need to get outside the box, guys. I asked Ted Waitt if he would be available for a call tomorrow morning. Since we got good results when he was on the call with Hydroid, maybe we go this way with EdgeTech. At the current rate, we will be non-operational by Monday. I will keep working, running surveys on one transducer, back and forth if I have to. We will do nothing but run photo assays on old targets, analyze and start over after comparing. I just don’t want to be trying to survey 1,900 remaining square miles with a camera on an 8-meter swath. There are lot of smart people looking at this and no idea is too goofy, no concept unworthy. It’s time to get creative.

1511: RE: Transducers From Dominique Rissolo
Just wanted to make sure we closed the loop. Spoke with EdgeTech today. Two sets of 120/410s shipped FedEx today from Boca to arrive in San Diego late morning tomorrow. Liz Smith will be watching for them, and Ted Waitt is waiting. They should be on the G5 for Saturday’s flight (I think this is still the plan). When I spoke with Purcell earlier today, he was scrambling to come up with brackets for the transducers (since they have a different form-factor than the 75/410s). Can you query Greg Packard on this? How critical are those brackets? EdgeTech couldn’t say, because they are a REMUS-specific part. Just want to make sure Packard and Purcell are on this aspect of the transducer swap.

1510: Response To Dominique Rissolo
Our e-mails must have crossed paths. I’m caught up and the last asked Mike Purcell about his schedule. I will follow up with Packard. Nicely done, man. I went to sleep and woke up to good news. How rare has that been?
